So I loved my sweet berry oatmeal I had the other morning. This morning I thought, well, let’s try it without all the sugar. I made some changes to my recipe and results were much less sweet. So I added the brown sugar.
Ingredients (for one):
3/4 cup water
Dash of salt
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 TBSP sliced almonds
1 TSP brown sugar
Place water, salt and frozen berries in a pot, bring to a boil and add oatmeal. Lower heat and cook until water is evaporated. Remove from heat and let stand two minutes. This is when I added the 1 TBSP of almonds and did my taste test, and the results were a little on the bitter side. Lesson of the day, frozen berries are not that sweet. So I added a TSP of brown sugar and served it up!
