Sahadi’s ( is a Lebanese market in Brooklyn, NY. This evening we had some take-out from this market for dinner. Spanakopita, kibbee and wheat berry salad.

I had never eaten kibbee or wheat berry salad before, but I thought it was okay. The spanakopita was very good: flakey and the spinach center was creamy and not too dry or boring. The kibbee, which I think was made of bulgur and lamb, was a new and interesting experience for me: it was dark-colored and the shell was well seasoned, as was the interior. The meat was sort of crumbly and it was savory, not oily.

The wheat berry salad was very good with lots of dried fruits were sweet and the grain was nice and sort of chewy. I would eat these things again.
